Counselling for Kids and Teens:

Being a kid and teenager is hard. The expectations of academics, fitting in with peers, the pressure of deciding what to do with your future and other stressors can be so daunting, resulting in feelings of not being sure where you should even start. Maybe you feel like no one really gets you, and you feel alone with your worry and stress. At North Counselling, we’re here to tell you that you’re not alone.

Many children and teens struggle with anxiety, fitting in at school, conflict with peers and conflict with family members. Parents often are concerned that their teen isn’t coping well – maybe they’re shutting down, isolating in their room, and they have no idea what’s really going on in their kid or teen’s mind. The good news is that counselling can help kids and teens learn skills to cope more effectively with the stress in their life, and find ways to get better. Families often find a sense of relief in having a therapist help them find ways to build deeper connections with each other and build understanding in what their children are facing.

At North Counselling and Psychotherapy, we help kids and teens who have experienced bullying, struggles at school, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, self harm, school avoidance and other concerns. We also work with frustrated parents who often feel like they don’t know where to turn or how to help their kids.

Counselling for Young Adults/Students

Being a young adult is hard. Having to figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life while trying making enough money to make ends meet can be totally overwhelming. Or may you’re slogging it out in a job that you hate, and dealing with the pressure of difficult or bad relationships, sex, family expectations, substance use, school and everything else that gets heaped on. We get it – and we know that sometimes it just feels like too much.

Often students aren’t aware of the services that may be available to them – whether counselling services on campus or the ability to access services off campus, support is out there. At North Counselling and Psychotherapy, we are proud to work with students from Western University, Fanshawe College and other post secondary institutions in the London, Ontario area.
